Welcome Jase & Kana Wedding Sign

After the wedding ceremony at the shrine, we moved to Sakurazaka Kanzansou for our wedding reception, a nice and exclusive Japanese restaurant.

My friend, Ideguu took on the responsibility for the creative direction of our wedding and made this welcome board and table arrangement chart.

Being an international wedding, he had the idea of putting a flag next to each person to make it easier to find their seat and to socialise where they’ve come from. He is a professional and he did an awesome job. Ideguu also took videos of the wedding and will produce us a wedding video documentary.

Tables for guests were set vertically and table arrangement was also amazing. The pretty flowers and chestnuts arrangement reflected the feel of Autumn.

The wedding cake cut featured a Japanese samurai’s sword (katana), a bit of entertainment that we really wanted to put in. The song from a famous Japanese drama accompanied the cake cutting moment and made a lot of people laugh. The cake was a green tea flavoured cake (matcha) and absolutely delicious.

In the middle of reception, we changed our clothes, hair and make-up too.

In Australia, it’s not usual for the Bride and Groom to change clothes but in Japan the couple will generally change a few times.

When I chose this kimono it was love at first sight – it had a red base, but otherwise very colourful and extremely loud. The make-up featured added glitter around the eyes for extra sparkle. The hair was put into an upstyle with curls with added hair pieces that I had made myself. I also brought a ball bouquet I made myself. This was all part of a re-entry (midway into the reception). My husband changed from the traditional black hakama (samurai colours) to one with a goldish bling and his hairstyle was flared up at the back for a bit of a sexy look.

It changed the mood, adding to the euphoria we felt.
